IIT Kanpur is considering Olympiad scores for admission to BTech-BS programs

The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur will admit students to its BTech and BS programs through Olympiads. This new admissions pathway will apply to five departments: Biological Sciences and Bioengineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Chemistry, Economics and Mathematics and Statistics.

For the Department of Biological Sciences and Bioengineering Sciences, admissions will be based on performance at the Olympiads in Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Specifically, one candidate will be selected through the Mathematics Olympiad, while one candidate will be chosen from the Biology, Physics or Chemistry Olympiads.

The concerned departments will use the rankings of the respective Olympiad to shortlist candidates for the programme. Selected candidates must take a written exam (which is mandatory) and may also participate in an interview (which is optional).

The participating departments will announce the call for applications for admission through the Olympiads in the first week of March, with the application window closing in the fourth week of March.

The specific opening and closing dates for sending offers of admission will be confirmed once the dates for JoSAA counseling have been determined.
