Man charged after allegedly pushing a car into the median of I-680 | News, sports, jobs

YOUNGSTOWN – A 40-year-old Barberton man was taken to the Mahoning County Jail Monday after an incident Sunday at 6:57 p.m. in which he is accused of grabbing the steering wheel of his girlfriend’s car and deliberately driving it into the median driving onto Interstate 680. .

Bradley Sheridan was charged Monday in Youngstown Municipal Court with assault and pleaded not guilty.

He will return to court on November 13 at 11am for a preliminary examination.

He was released from jail later Monday.

Youngstown police were called to I-680 west of downtown for a single-vehicle crash and located the woman and her vehicle. According to the police report, she said she was driving her Honda Accord to take the man, later identified as Sheridan, to Barberton when an argument ensued.

The woman said the argument was about him wanting a ride home and her not wanting to drive him.

She said Sheridan told her he was going to kill her cat.

The argument continued until they got near Belle Vista Avenue, she said.

She said Sheridan hit her on the right cheek with his left hand and then deliberately pushed her car into the concrete median, the report said.

The officer investigating the accident observed tire tracks on the road showing where the vehicle traveled from the outside lane into a location on the center wall, damaging the front of the vehicle, which then spun and the rear bumper also struck the center median. report states.

The vehicle was towed away and sustained heavy damage.

The woman told the officer that the man ran into the woods and described the gray sweatpants, gray hooded sweatshirt and hat he was wearing. Other officers were asked to look for him, but they were unable to find him, the report said.

After gathering information for a report, the investigating officer drove around looking for Sheridan and spotted him at Mahoning and Glenwood Avenue and took him into custody.

Sheridan said he had a headache from the accident, so he was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

He was taken to jail when he left the hospital, the report said.
