Homa Bay: 8 Pala Masogo Secondary School officials arrested for allegedly leaking KCSE exams

Homa Bay – Eight persons, including the center manager, invigilators, BOG teachers and other officials of Pala Masogo Secondary School in Homa Bay County, were arrested on Monday, November 4 for allegedly copying an examination paper.

The incident took place on the school premises where the suspects were found trying to replicate a chemistry paper for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.

Exclusively spoken to TUKO.co.keHoma Bay Sub-county Deputy District Commissioner Emmanuel Kiplagat confirmed that the suspects, all linked to the examination centre, were detained after being caught red-handed.

“Some teachers were copying exam papers, and all eight suspects are now in custody,” Kiplagat said, noting that all evidence had been seized by police.

Those arrested included key figures responsible for maintaining exam integrity, including the center manager and several invigilators.

How exam leakage is reduced at Pala Masogo

Kiplagat stressed that education authorities are intensifying efforts to prevent such incidents, with law enforcement agencies maintaining close monitoring to ensure strict compliance with examination rules.

He assured the public and the educational community that any involvement in examination irregularities would be met with legal action.

“We will arrest anyone who tries to engage in exam malpractice,” he stated, adding that although the photocopied papers did not reach the classroom, the arrested persons were still involved in the misconduct.

In addition, Kiplagat announced that there would be changes in the examination management at the school, which would have an impact security staff, invigilators and the center manager.

The suspects are currently in police custody at Homa Bay Police Station.

Two school principals arrested for giving fake KPSEA exams

Two directors of Silver Bells Academy were arrested after there were 23 applicants caught sitting for fake KPSEA exam papers.

According to the police, the candidates have been given up photocopied 2023 KPSEA papers because the school had not registered them with the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC).

Principal Margaret Ingaasi claimed that the students missed their exams because their the intended papers were sent to another center.
