IHG adds nearly 1,000 rooms in Portugal with 9 hotel signings

IHG has some exciting news from Portugal to kick off June. The brand will add 9 new hotels in the country, totaling nearly 1,000 rooms. Some of these hotels are expected to open their doors this year.

New IHG hotels arrive in Portugal

IHG has signed for 9 new hotels under 4 brands in Portugal. Here is a preview of the upcoming hotels:

  • Holiday Inn Braga (Opening 2024): The 114-room hotel will target business and leisure travelers.
  • Holiday Inn Beja (Opening 2024): The 95-room hotel will be located inside the walls of Beja Castle and a short distance from the city center.
  • Holiday Inn Express Évora (opening 2024): This 76-room hotel is a conversion of a historic building and will equally suit business and leisure travelers.
  • Holiday Inn Express Porto – Boavista (opening 2024): The 91-room property will be close to the city center, the airport and other tourist hotspots.
  • Holiday Inn Express & Suites Lisbon – Amoreiras (opening 2025): Located in Lisbon’s financial district, this 192-room hotel will be Portugal’s first Holiday Inn Express & Suites.
  • Holiday Inn Express & Suites Portimão (opening 2025): This hotel will have 60 rooms and will be within walking distance of several beaches.
  • Hotel Indigo Albufeira (opening 2025): The 80-room property will have a rooftop pool, bar and on-site restaurant.
  • Kimpton Lisbon (opening 2026): The hotel will have 141 rooms and suites, a rooftop swimming pool and a bar.
  • Hotel Indigo Faro (Opening 2026): The 127-room hotel will have a rooftop pool with views of the lagoon and marina.

All told, IHG will add 976 rooms to its Portuguese pipeline by 2026.

Booking IHG hotels in Portugal

IHG has 20 hotels open across Portugal. These include some of the brand’s best offerings, like Six Senses Douro Valley and InterContinental Porto – Palacio Das Cardosas.

You can earn and redeem IHG One Rewards points at participating properties. For example, a one-night stay at the InterContinental Porto will cost approximately 79,000 points per night this autumn.

Earning IHG points is pretty simple. The hotel chain has 3 co-branded credit cards that come with big welcome bonuses.
