Barcelona’s statistics speak volumes as Karim Benzema gives Kylian Mbappé candid advice

Former Real Madrid star Karim Benzema offered Kylian Mbappe some quick advice on how to win over fans in his first full season at the La Liga club.

Mbappe scored 256 goals during a seven-year spell at Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain, hoping to bring his sharp shot to the Spanish capital.

But the French superstar has now gone two games without a goal in all competitions since the 2-1 win over Celta Vigo in the Spanish top flight last month.

Former Real Madrid striker Benzema, who left to join Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad in 2023, revealed that ‘if you play two, three games without goals, they will kill you’.

“Mbappé knows that there is a lot of pressure at Real Madrid. At Madrid you play two or three games without goals, then they kill you,” said Benzema.

“You can win the Ballon d’Or and not score again for three games.”

In conversation with El Chiringuito TVBenzema added: “I think he has to learn to live with this. He has to leave a good impression in matches. Every match is a new one, and he has to score goals because they have only made him score goals.”

Meanwhile, England international Judas Bellinghamwho scored 23 goals in 42 games for Real Madrid last season, has failed to get on the scoreboard once since the start of the campaign.

It comes after it was revealed that their rivals Barcelona have scored a total of 40 goals so far this season, which is more than Real Madrid (21) and Atletico Madrid (18) combined.

Mbappe, who joined Los Blancos on a free transfer last year in a highly speculated transfer, has scored eight goals and assisted a further two in 14 appearances so far.

Real Madrid have not quite had the start to the season they had hoped for, despite bringing in the star signing in the summer.

They recently suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat to Barcelona in El Clasico thanks to a brace from Robert Lewandowski and goals from Lamine Yamal and Raphinha.

The defeat at Barcelona was a particularly disappointing match for Mbappé, who thought he had found the net early in the match, but was ruled out by VAR for offside.

It has been suggested that boss Carlo Ancelotti has failed to adapt his front three to suit Mbappe, who prefers to operate on the left, an area currently filled by Vinicius Juniorforcing the Frenchman to play through the middle.

Last season, Real Madrid won the Spanish title for the 36th time and won the Champions League at Wembley with a 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund.
