The police accuse someone of fraud after an incident with checks

In 2021, Sault Police Department detectives began investigating a report that three fraudulent checks had been deposited into the suspect’s bank account.

On Saturday, Sault police officers, with the assistance of the Canada Border Services Agency, charged a 63-year-old woman with fraud.

On August 30, 2021, detectives from the fraud unit began investigating a report of three fraudulent checks deposited into the suspect’s bank account in late July 2021, police said in a news release.

The victim to whom the checks belonged does not know the suspect. Officers have obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect.

On November 2, 911 communicators received a call from CBSA indicating the suspect was in custody on an arrest warrant. Officers were dispatched to CBSA where they arrested the suspect. She was charged with fraud under $5,000.

Susanne McAllister was released after a summons and will appear in court on December 30.

None of the charges have been tested in court and the suspect is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
