Glastonbury announces major change to its ticket booking system

The changes to the booking system were revealed in a post on the Glastonbury website, external on Tuesday, November 5.

Some fans expressed concern about the changes and recalled negative experiences with similar systems.

“This is crying out for trouble,” wrote one on X.com. “I came through for Oasis and got kicked out after trying to pay. I can’t bear that this is now possible for Glastonbury.”

“This is just a backdoor vote. Horrible,” another added.

“At least the old system rewarded persistence,” one user on Reddit commented. “Now everyone can participate and have an equal chance, including the people who would otherwise leave and complain after a few minutes of refreshing (the website).”

Others disagreed, saying the new system “rewards people who are organized and prepared,” who are likely “the ones who most want to go to the festival.”

“I agree with this change,” said another Reddit commenter. “I’ve been trying and failing for the past three to four years. At least this way you don’t waste the whole morning worrying.’

“I’m going to reserve my judgment on this until ticket day,” concluded the top-rated comment, external“where my opinion will be determined by whether I have a ticket or not.”
