CNN star Jake Tapper admits his friends are ‘terrified’ Kamala Harris will lose

Jake Tapper and his friends are “terrified” that Vice President Kamala Harris is destined for defeat in next month’s election, the CNN star revealed.

In a conversation with Wes Moore, the Democratic governor of Maryland, Tapper expressed concern that the Democrat was faltering in her confrontation with former President Donald Trump.

His comments underscore the importance placed on the Nov. 5 election, which has been presented by many Democrats and Republicans as a turning point in American history.

“I’m hearing from Democratic friends who, quite frankly, are terrified that Vice President Harris won’t close the deal,” Tapper said on air Wednesday.

“I’m sure you have even more Democratic friends than I do. What do you say to them when they contact you and say they’re concerned about this election?”

The latest polls show that Vice President Harris will have a difficult time beating Trump in the must-win swing states.

The governor told the CNN host that he acknowledged it was a closely contested election, but that Harris was able to win over voters in this moment of decisive election.

‘I would tell people that it is important that we get started. The days of hand-wringing are over,” Moore said.

‘She is converting people. We have to tell people that you can’t just sit on the sidelines in this.’

The latest poll from The New York Times and Siena College has Harris deadlocked with Trump after she led him in an earlier version of the poll in early October.

Both candidates received 48 percent of the votes in the poll. As of October 3, Harris had a 49 percent to 46 percent lead over Trump.

That shift is within the margin of error, but scares Democrats nonetheless.

It suggests Harris is not building the kind of huge lead in the popular vote that would suggest she can beat Trump in must-win swing states.

Trump has now achieved his largest lead yet in our DailyMail.com/JL Partners election model.

This shows that he now wins in 65.9 percent of the simulations when the algorithm goes through all possible combinations of data.

Tapper’s comments come a day after Harris’ town hall on CNN, which was criticized by some Democrats who said she did not sell her candidacy strongly enough.

After the event ended, Tapper’s co-host Dana Bash also suggested that Harris failed to “seal the deal” with voters.

“What I’m hearing from people I’ve talked to is that if her goal was to close the deal, they’re not sure she did it,” Bash said.

‘Is there a different standard being held to? Maybe. But maybe that’s the world she lives in.’

Tapper was also critical of Harris’ performance at the Pennsylvania town hall, suggesting she opted for personal attacks on the former president instead of her policies.

“She focused a lot more on Donald Trump, I think, than on a lot of specifics in terms of what she would do as president,” Tapper said.

“I think after eight years of Donald Trump, people are aware of Donald Trump’s personality, his propensity for controversy, his potential to offend and the like. And I wonder if you think she might have done too much.”
