ESPN reporter tearfully announces her mother’s death before Kansas City Chiefs vs Buccaneers

ESPN reporter tearfully announces her mother’s death before Kansas City Chiefs vs Buccaneers

ESPN reporter Michelle Beisner-Buck fought back tears as she announced on Monday Night Football that her mother had died in October.

Standing on the field at Arrowhead Stadium before the Kansas City Chiefs played the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Beisner said, “This was a very special week for me to come back. This story was also difficult for me to do because just a week ago, on October 29, our family lost one of the most incredible people this world has ever seen when my mother Mary Beisner Wright passed away.”

“She has her angel wings,” Beisner-Buck added. “And everyone at ESPN was so supportive and told me, ‘You don’t have to come back this week, you can take this off.’ But I knew my mother would want me to see this through.”

“My mom loved NFL football, especially the Denver Broncos, so she won’t be cheering for the Chiefs tonight,” she continued.

“She also loved what I was able to do with this show and tell these stories and really get to know the people behind the helmets.”

Beisner-Buck also recalled that Rachaad White, her interview subject, recounted how his mother told him, “Be where your feet are and enjoy the moment.”

“Right now, I’m here, enjoying the moment, because I know for sure that my mother, wherever she is, is now upright and not in pain, and she’s enjoying this moment.”

Buck recently had to undergo surgery after her husband, Joe Buck, accidentally hit her foot with a golf ball. She suffered nerve damage from a broken ankle.

It was that injury that had kept her away from television screens, but Beisner-Buck said her ESPN bosses would have given her more time to grieve her mother if she needed it.
