After the match, Wilson admitted his match-winning brace came in fortunate circumstances.

The former Liverpool youngster had met Adama Traore’s cross and fired the ball into the air and into the net for his first time with his back to goal. Before stooping to direct an Antonee Robinson throw into the back of the net.

“It was a great feeling to come on and score the two goals and win the game.” He told Sky Sports. “We deserved it, we held them the whole time.

“The manager told me to find space and if the ball went wide I had to try to get into the penalty area and I did that.

‘They both went in, but not the way I wanted! I just helped the first one onto the back post and the second one was more lucky.
