Conor McGregor is on trial for allegedly assaulting a woman at the Dublin hotel

Martial arts fighter Conor McGregor is accused in the city’s High Court of raping a woman in a hotel penthouse in Dublin, Ireland.

Nikita Ni Laimhin has filed a civil damages lawsuit against McGregor and another man over their alleged attack on her in 2018. McGregor’s lawyers claim Ni Liamhin is attempting to commit extortion.

A jury in Dublin was told McGregor had picked up Ni Liamhin and her friend from a Christmas party. The two women were under the impression that they were heading to another party, but eventually returned home James Laurens.

McGregor is said to have shared a bag of cocaine with the women before heading to a penthouse suite at the city’s Beacon Hotel. According to the complaint, McGregor asked Ni Laimhin to join him in a bedroom and “came up to her” even though she told him she did not want to have intercourse.

Ni Laimhin claims McGregor held her down on the bed and even though she tried, she couldn’t push him off her.

“You will see pictures of her hands and wrists that are black and blue. You will see that her left breast has a bloody scratch. The scratch is there because she was wearing a watch and had her hands up to protect herself. She was pressed and the watch caused scars on her chest,” Ni Laimhin’s lawyer argued.

After the alleged incident, Ni Laimhin was taken to a hospital by her mother. She reportedly had intercourse with Lawrence after being attacked by McGregor, although her lawyer claims she has no memory of it.

McGregor’s defense team has argued that Ni Laimhin had several opportunities to come forward about the attack, but she did not. They believe she is involved in an extortion attempt and deny the allegations.

In June 2023, McGregor was charged with assaulting another woman after the NBA finals in Miami.
