More than 2,000 young people participate in the JustFit Inter-School Games

Dar es Salaam. More than 2,000 boys and girls will compete in the second edition of the JustFit Inter-School Games, which will take place at the end of this month and last until early December.

This was revealed yesterday by Lubna Lutfi Islam, chairman of the JustFit Foundation, in an interview with The Citizen.

Lubna explained that the event will see U-15 boys and girls participate in a range of sports including football, chess, swimming, table tennis and athletics.

The competition aims to provide young athletes with a platform to showcase their talents and gain experience in a competitive setting.

She added that schools are currently in the registration process, with the deadline extended to November 20.

“We originally planned to complete the registration process by November 10, but many schools requested an extension so that they could have more time to register additional teams in various sports,” Lubna said.

The event schedule indicates that the swimming competition will be held on November 30 at the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club, from 7am to 5pm.

The competition will feature swimmers in several age categories, including seven and under, 8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14 and 15 and over.

These age-specific categories are designed to encourage the participation of a wide range of young swimmers, allowing them to compete at a level appropriate to their development.

On December 7, the focus shifts to football, chess, basketball, table tennis and athletics events, which will be held on the grounds of the University of Dar es Salaam.

This multi-sport event aims to give young athletes the opportunity to compete in different disciplines, improve their skills and encourage teamwork.

“The event culminates on December 8 with the semi-finals and finals in all sporting categories, followed by an awards ceremony to recognize the winners and outstanding performers,” Lubna said.

The event is expected to be an important step towards the development of youth sports in Tanzania, with the added aim of scouting talented young athletes who can represent the country in the future.

In addition to JustFit Sports Gear, the main organizing partners for the event are the JustFit Foundation, Street Soul, Dreamchasers Technologies, the Hasheem Thabeet Foundation and Juventus Academy Tanzania.

Medical support is provided by Saifee Hospital Tanzania during the competitions.
