Missouri voters shocked by snap rules on Election Day

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – It was a pleasant surprise for many voters on Election Day to see short lines early in the morning and throughout the afternoon.

This comes after record-breaking early voter turnout. In Jackson County, 32,870 people voted early. In Kansas City, there were 3,032 early voters.

KCTV5 went to polling places in Jackson County to see what the rules were like. They all had a steady flow, with a wait time of no more than 20 minutes.

This shocked many voters as they turned away after seeing the long lines for early voting.

“We tried to vote early, but it was just a really long line,” voter Fani Sooialo said. “So we just waited it out and came today.”

“I saw on Instagram and Facebook that people were waiting in line for five hours to vote early,” said voter Dylan Brasco. “So it’s surprising that it’s super smooth here.”

Ultimately, voters, line or no line, say it is an honor to vote.

“It affects our future and the way we will approach daily life,” Sooialo said.

You can queue until 7pm. Read a example ballot paper in advance. If you do not have a Missouri license, bring your passport or other government-issued identification.
