Texas commit announces decision to reclassify into 2025 class

Texas safety Zelus Hicks will be reclassified in the 2025 recruiting cycle.

He was previously included in UT’s 2026 recruiting class. Hicks shared that decision with On3’s Hayes Fawcett on Tuesday afternoon:

Hicks is one of the top recruits in the country. He has offers from places like Michigan, Tennessee, Clemson, Notre Dame and many more elite programs.

Hicks originally committed to Texas in September. It appears he now plans to sign with the Longhorns as the early signing period begins in December.

He joins a loaded 2025 Texas recruiting class that has been moving up the ranks. Hicks is the 22nd player to commit to Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns so far this cycle. He also becomes the third defensive back to join Texas’ 2025 class.

Overall, Texas’ class currently ranks sixth nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. With just weeks to go before the Early Signing Period, Texas appears to be in a good position to sign a solid class in December.
