TSR Jawan, brother gets 20 years in jail for raping teenager multiple times

Agartala: A Tripura State Rifles (TSR) jawan and his elder brother were sentenced to 20 years in jail by a special court in Dharmanagar on Tuesday for raping a 14-year-old girl several times after which she became pregnant. The court of Special POCSO Judge Angshuman Debbarma also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on each of the accused. The girl was just returning from school when she stopped at the suspect’s house in her neighborhood for a glass of water. According to the prosecutor, the older brother took her into a room and raped her.
The younger brother, a TSR jawan, saw it and later blackmailed the girl and raped her several times, said public prosecutor Sudharsan Sharma. The girl eventually became pregnant and had a child, he said. “About a year after the sexual exploitation, she filed an FIR against the two brothers at the women police station on February 12, 2022,” Sharma said.
