Missing 19-year-old student found dead in national park

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KTV/Gray News) – Authorities in Colorado say the search for a missing student has come to a tragic end.

The Montrose County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the death of 19-year-old Dallas Roberts over the weekend.

Authorities said the Colorado Mesa University student was last seen alive on Oct. 28 while driving into the Black Canyon area of ​​Gunnison National Park.

Park rangers said that during their search for the 19-year-old, they discovered that his vehicle had crashed about 50 yards from a road and down a hill in the park.

Montrose County authorities called on the help from the public to find Roberts after rangers failed to find him at the accident scene.

Last Saturday, authorities called off the search after crews reported finding Roberts’ body.

No further immediate information was released about the student’s death.
