Colorado Springs Police activate ‘accident alert’ Tuesday evening

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – Colorado Springs Police announced Tuesday evening that they are on alert for crashes due to slippery roads.

The Crash Alert is activated when CSPD expects to receive a large number of vehicle crashes and, due to severe weather, is unable to respond to all of them. When an accident alert is in place, police will only respond to a collision if the car is no longer drivable due to damage, if there has been a death or injury requiring medical attention, if alcohol or drugs are involved , if there is a so-called hit-and-run. , or if there is damage to public property other than wildlife.

Police ask motorists to report an accident within 72 hours.
