Westwood ISD names interim head coach

PALESTINE, Texas (KLTV) – Westwood ISD has selected an interim head coach after a UIL committee voted to suspend former coach Richard Bishop.

The UIL State Executive Committee voted Thursday to suspend Westwood football coach Bishop for the remainder of the football season. The committee also ruled that the team does not have to forfeit the district matches.

On Friday, Westwood ISD announced that Glen Tunstall has been named interim head coach, effective immediately.

“With extensive experience and a deep commitment to the values and goals of our program, Coach Tunstall brings leadership and expertise to this role,” the administration said. “We look forward to his guidance and support as we continue to pursue excellence.”
