Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): The SP office in Gwalior on Wednesday witnessed a scene that looked nothing like a line from a Bollywood film. Two women contacted the police at the same time to file complaints of harassment by their respective husbands. After listening to each other’s cases, they discovered that they had a common husband and the same problem! And as they say, “the enemy’s enemy is a friend”, the two men joined hands and filed a joint complaint.

The man in question is a resident of Gwalior. He opted for a second marriage after throwing out his first wife for not paying the dowry.

Both wives alleged that the man harassed them over dowry. And when his dowry demands could not be met, he abandoned them both.

According to reports, the husband harassed and assaulted the two wives on the pretext of not giving him the dowry money. A complaint was filed and the police promised to take appropriate legal action against the accused.

First lady:

The alleged person has been identified as Updesh Rathore, a resident of Gwalior district. Rathore married his first wife, Nisha Rathore, who hailed from Uttaranchal. According to reports, Nisha married Updesh on March 5, 2019 and they had a son in 2021. During COVID-19, Updesh started harassing and physically assaulting Nisha when she refused to give him the wedding money. dowry.

Because of this altercation, Nisha was kicked out of her own house. Updesh filed for divorce and Nisha filed an application for maintenance in the family court. The family court ruled against Updesh and ordered him to pay Rs. 6,000 as monthly allowance. Without divorcing Nisha, Updesh married another girl.

Second wife:

According to reports, the second wife is Priyanka Rathore, who also resides in Gwalior district. The couple got married on May 1, 2023. On November 20, the accused and his family started assaulting Priyanka on the pretext of dowry; the family then kicked her out of the house when she refused. Although the family brought Priyanka back, they continued to assault and harass her before finally sending her away again.

After the physical altercation, Priyanka found out that Updesh was already a married man with a child. Frustrated, she went to the police station with her family to file a complaint for harassment and fraud, but no action was taken.

How did they both meet?

On Wednesday, when Priyanka arrived at the SP office in Gwalior to lodge a complaint against Updesh, she met the criminal’s first wife Nisha. While talking to each other, they joined hands for the cause and filed a joint complaint against the husband. The police assured them that appropriate legal action would soon be taken.
