A370 crash: road closed and life-threatening injuries after chase

One person is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a police chase ended in a ‘serious’ crash.

The A370 near Flax Bourton was closed between the junctions with Stancombe Lane and Barrow Street at 02:00 GMT on Wednesday.

Avon and Somerset Police said the driver and passenger of a black BMW 5 Series both went to hospital and the driver’s injuries are serious.

Police have confirmed that a marked police vehicle was immediately behind the car and the police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), has been notified.
