Ivan Toney will have a new tattoo if England win Euro 2024 and reveals which teammate shocked him the most

Ivan Toney has given a little insight into his celebration plans in case England win Euro 2024 – by getting a new tattoo.

Excitement is building in the England camp, with the Three Lions one of the favorites to win the tournament this summer.

Toney spoke exclusively to talkSPORT ahead of Euro 2024

Toney is part of that team he believes can make an impact in Germany and he said he could add to his impressive collection of ink if football returned home.

On his tattoos, Toney told talkSPORT: “All the ones in the family are my favourites. I have my sisters, my mum and dad, my kids and everyone who is close to me, so it’s like pictures of them and I like to have memorable photos.

“When I was younger I wanted my first tattoo, I was 17 but my dad told me I had to wait until I was 18 to earn it.

“I think I scored my first goal for Northampton and straight after that I asked if I could get my first tattoo and he told me I had to get a meaningful one, one on my chest that says : “Suffer the pain of discipline or suffer the pain of regret.

“It’s something I stand for very strongly and after that I haven’t clearly looked back.”

After revealing he had “around 50” tattoos, talkSPORT’s Faye Carruthers asked Toney if there were more to come.

He replied: “We’ll see, we’ll see. I’ll tell you after the final!

“I’m not too sure what it will be, but it will be a good thing…maybe I’ve thought about it but I’ll keep it to myself until the end.”

Gareth Southgate’s England side almost have a feeling of innocence with Toney, Adam Wharton, Marc Guehi, Eberechi Eze, Kobbie Mainoo, Anthony Gordon, Cole Palmer, Ollie Watkins and Dean Henderson all making their first appearance in a major tournament at the senior level.

But Toney has been impressed by the youngsters among the England ranks, including Guehi, against whom Toney has had some difficult appearances in the Premier League.

Gabby Agbonlahor thinks Ivan Toney wants to leave Brentford and backs Tottenham Hotspur or Chelsea to sign him

When asked which young player had impressed him the most, Toney replied: “They’ve all impressed me, they impress me all the time.

“When I see them play, they behave with a lot of maturity. They are strong young men and have a good football brain.

“The toughest opponent in the group… I mainly face the central defenders, I’ve said it before, Marc Guehi. He’s so strong for a little guy. I think he’s one of the toughest strong.

“He’s a tough opponent, sometimes I drift to the other side, where the other central defender is.

“There is so much young talent there, I am sure they will do good for the team.”

With Toney focused entirely on helping England, talk of his future at Brentford will naturally take a backseat.

The 28-year-old has been linked with Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea in recent months, but is refusing to get drawn into speculation about him.

He said: “I’m a Brentford player, I’ve got a year left. I’m going to a major tournament and that’s my main goal now.

“After this I will return to Brentford and I will always be a Brentford player.”

Toney added: “It’s good to be linked with other clubs but I’ve had disappointments in the past and nothing’s done until it’s done.

“As I said, I’m still a Brentford player and I need to focus on doing well for the season ahead, so that’s the main thing.

“If a big change were to happen, I would be ready anyway. But like I said, I have to stay focused and not let other things and other noise take over me and just focus on what I need to do. “.

talkSPORT will have full commentary on every England match at Euro 2024, with their first game seeing them face Serbia on Sunday, kicking off at 8pm.
