73-year-old New Jersey man arrested with 45,000 child pornography files sentenced to prison

A man who had more than 45,000 child pornography files stored on his electronic devices was sentenced to prison Wednesday.

Robert Giles, 73, of Collingswood, was sentenced to 33 months in federal prison, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey announced in a news release. He had previously pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography.

FBI agents executed a search warrant at his Collingswood home on April 25, 2022, where they seized several electronic devices. Cybercrime experts examined the electronic devices and found more than 45,000 images and videos depicting child sexual abuse, federal prosecutors said.

As part of his sentence, Giles will also be subject to 10 years of supervised release and will owe $186,500 in fines, officials said.
