The South Central Regional Airport Agency (SCRAA) committee is expected to meet in early July.

This is the second meeting since the Iowa Public Information Council formally accepted complaints against the agency earlier this year regarding public meeting violations. No formal action was taken at the previous March meeting on this issue, and it is unclear whether the next session scheduled for Wednesday, July 3 at noon will include anything related to this issue.

At the February session, the SCRAA board said it would ask the Pella and Oskaloosa city councils to amend the 28E agreement “to reflect the fact that they are the only two parties to the within the SCRAA and make appropriate changes, including the removal of any reference to an executive committee.” . This is an issue that must be addressed at the city level and cannot be done by the South Central Regional Airport Agency. Cities are aiming for a completion time of 60 days. Any amended and restated agreement requires the approval of both municipal councils.

However, the Pella City Council took no action related to the SCRAA or updating the agreement, and 60 days after the complaints were formally accepted would have been April 17. John Bandstra, a former SCRAA board member who raised complaints about potential open meeting violations with the state, questioned why no action was taken by the board during its last meeting last week, and no response was given.

The SCRAA meeting agenda will be posted a few days after the July 3 meeting.
