‘Get ready to finish strong tomorrow’

Editor’s note: President Donald Trump is expected to win the presidency.

(NewsNation) — The chair of the Democratic vice president Kamala Harriscampaign sent a letter to staff Tuesday evening, assuring them that the current proximity to the race is “exactly what we prepared for.”

In the email, campaign manager Jen O’Malley Dillon said staff knew all along that this is a “thin race.”

“While we continue to see data trickle in from Sun Belt states, we have known all along that our clearest path to 270 electoral votes is through the Blue Wall states” wrote O’Malley Dillon. “And we feel good about what we see.”

Harris was not expected to speak Tuesday evening, said Cedric Richmond, co-chair of her campaign. Her campaign says she will address the nation on Wednesday after more votes are counted.

“Thank you for believing in the promise of America… We still have votes to count. There are still states that have not yet been called. We will continue tonight…’ he said.

Trump vs. Harris: Their positions on issues important to voters

O’Malley Dillon mentioned how PennsylvaniaHarris outperformed turnout expectations for Philadelphia, as well as early voting expectations in Bucks County.

“In Michigan, we are waiting for a significant number of votes,” O’Malley Dillon said. “In Wisconsin, we know there are a significant number of votes remaining in Dane and Milwaukee counties.”

O’Malley Dillon noted that they have been telling campaign staff for weeks that the race may not happen on Election Day.

“Those of you who were there in 2020 know this well: It takes time for all the votes to be counted – and all the votes will be counted. This is how our system works. What we do know is that this race won’t be on screen until the early morning hours,” O’Malley Dillon wrote. “This is what we were built for, so let’s finish what we have in front of us tonight, get some sleep and prepare to finish strong tomorrow.”
