(WJET/WFXP)– With Pride Month in full swing, the NWPA Pride Alliance has made some changes to its celebrations for this year, including a new name and location for Erie PrideFest.

The NWPA Pride Alliance announced in January that Erie PrideFest had been renamed Pride on the Bay and would be held June 29 at Liberty Park and the Highmark Amphitheater from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., with doors opening at noon.

Free shuttles will also be available between the Intermodal Center and Liberty Park as well as between Bayfront Park and Ride and Lincoln all day between 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m.

The Pride Parade will take place the next day, June 30, in downtown Erie, starting at 1 p.m., with protesters marching along State Street to Perry Square. Registration is available online for walkers as an organization or group of individuals here.

Pride on the Bay will be headlined by drag queen Ada Vox and feature performances by other drag artists as well as information tables, vendors, local food trucks and a dedicated health and wellness area with resources on HIV/STI prevention, all for free.

The NWPA Pride Alliance said it decided to move the celebration to Liberty Park from Perry Square to better accommodate the security needs of the event and hopes the change will bring more vendors and improvements to the celebration.

Before that, community members can also celebrate Pride Night with the Erie SeaWolves on Thursday, June 27, with first pitch being thrown out at 6:05 p.m. Attendees can also get a special shirt and ticket if they purchase tickets on the Pride Alliance website.

As for Crawford County, the third annual Meadville Pride and Street Fair will take place on Saturday, July 27, from 1 to 5 p.m., with opening ceremonies and performances at Diamond Park.

The NWPA Pride Alliance will then cap off the summer celebrations with its 31st annual Pride Picnic at the Rotary Pavilion near Beach 7 of Presque Isle State Park on August 10 from 1 to 6 p.m., participants being asked to bring food to share a potluck.
