Former Billerica police officer indicted on child rape and pornography charges

A former Billerica police officer was arraigned Friday in Middlesex Superior Court for allegedly raping a teenage girl in 2021, according to court records.

Alexander Allen, 35, is charged with aggravated rape of a child with a 10-year age difference and possession of child pornography. He was indicted on October 3, months after he left the police force shortly after the allegations came to light last year.

Allen, who had worked as a police officer in Billerica since 2018, allegedly met the girl when she was 14, the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office said. Prosecutors said that in March 2021, Allen offered to pick up the girl, then 15, from an appointment and drive her home, where they had sex.

Allen then requested a nude photo of the underage girl, which he received, prosecutors said.

The age of consent in Massachusetts is 16.

An attorney for Allen could not immediately be reached for comment Friday.

Their alleged relationship only came to light when Allen told another officer last year, prosecutors said. Allen was placed on administrative leave on Dec. 5 and resigned two weeks later, police said.

“The allegations against Allen, if proven, are deeply troubling and represent a betrayal of the police oath to protect the innocent and serve the public with integrity,” Billerica Police Chief Roy Frost said in a statement. statement when Allen was charged.

“There is no room within the Billerica Police Department for the abhorrent conduct alleged in this case,” he added.

Police said another officer was placed on paid administrative leave this month for “possible violations of department policy” related to the investigation.

Allen was released Friday on $5,000 bail, with orders to stay away from the girl, stay out of Billerica and refrain from unsupervised contact or work with children under 18.
