Missing 16-year-old girl from Mumbai found in Pondicherry, first raped by car driver and then raped

A 16-year-old girl from Mumbai was found in an extremely weakened condition on a beach in Pondicherry. The girl who was visiting her family in Puducherry for Diwali was reported missing two days ago.

According to police, she was raped by an autorickshaw driver and then sexually assaulted by a group of techies.

She was taken to JIPMER Hospital where medical reports confirmed that she had been sexually assaulted. The girl’s mother had filed a missing report with the Grand Bazaar police on October 31 after the girl left home the previous day following a family dispute. Two days later the girl was discovered in a seriously weakened condition near Beach Road.

Police investigation, using CCTV footage, revealed that the girl had entered an auto-rickshaw driven by a man identified as Kaja Mohideen. Instead of taking her to the requested tourist spot, Mohideen allegedly took her to a guest house and then to his house, where he raped her. Later he dropped her off at Auroville.

The girl then tried to get a lift from a group of techies heading to Chennai, where she wanted to meet her friend. However, the techies took her to a room and raped her, kept her captive in the room for two days and then sent her back to Pondicherry by booking a taxi.

The Grand Bazaar police have arrested Kaja Mohideen, a techie from Andhra and two from Odisha under Section 6 of POCSO, which deals with punishment for aggravated sexual assault, and Section 137 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with the kidnapping. search for three more perpetrators.

Further investigations are underway.
