Donald Trump is expected to carry Iowa

ABC News expects Trump to retain Iowa’s six electoral votes. The state became a topic of discussion among the well-known people in recent days pollster Selzer & Co. released a poll conducted on behalf of the Des Moines Register and Mediacom showing Harris with a 3 percentage point lead in the Hawkeye State, a surprising result for a state that Trump won by 9 points in 2016 and by 8 points in 2020. While Selzer has been known to post outliers in Although the past has proven to be more prescient than expected, it appears this was not one of those moments: Trump is 12 points ahead of Harris in Iowa with 54% of the expected vote reporting.

Texas Senator Ted Cruz wins re-election

ABC News expects Cruz to win the U.S. Senate race in Texas. With roughly 74% of the expected votes, the incumbent Republican leads his challenger – Rep. Colin Allred – by 10 percentage points, 54% to 44%.

Democrat Alsobrooks becomes Maryland’s first black senator

ABC News predicts Democrat Angela Alsobrooks will win Maryland’s open U.S. Senate seat.

She ran against Republican Larry Hogan, the state’s former governor. Alsobrooks will replace Sen. Ben Cardin, who retired in May after five decades in politics. With about 53% of the expected votes, Alsobrooks led Hogan by 60% to 39%. The Democrat’s victory makes her the first black U.S. senator in Maryland history.

Mississippi goes to Trump
