“Ducati wasn’t ready for Valentino Rossi; today we are ready for Marc Márquez’ – Davide Tardozzi

Ducati has chosen Marc Márquez as one of its MotoGP riders for 2025 and 2026, making him one of the most high-profile riders to join the Borgo Panigale manufacturer. In 2010 and 2011 Ducati had Valentino Rossi, another very famous rider.

Il Dottore had two very difficult seasons with Ducati, finally leaving without achieving the desired successes and with modest results. Davide Tardozzi, the team manager, assured GPOne.com that Ducati is now ready, unlike the Rossi era:

It’s a completely different challenge because of the preparation we have today as a manufacturer, with the bike, the management and the technical management. This was the real mistake when we brought Valentino to Ducati; we were not prepared. Ducati was not ready to face Valentino Rossi. Today we are more than prepared.

Tardozzi believes that, having the experience of managing Francesco Bagnaia, there will be no problems with Márquez: “At the moment, when you manage Francesco Bagnaia, I don’t see why you can’t also manage Marc Márquez. Not that Pecco is left out. He’s a driver who shows he wants to win, and he does it in the most elegant way possible, and I’m talking about what happens off the track.‘.
