Saint John’s Resort opens Irish pub-inspired Doyles to complement Cardinal

Saint John’s Resort in Plymouth Township, owned by the Pulte Family Charitable Foundation, announced the July 1 grand opening of Doyles, its latest dining concept.

Developed as part of the multi-million dollar resort transformation, the opening of Doyles complements The Cardinal, a new 18-hole (previously 27-hole) championship golf course. The new layout was designed by Michigan golf course architect Raymond Hearn, a native of the Detroit metro area.

Also open are The Little Cardinal, a 7-hole par 3 course, and The Cardinal Putting Course, offering a golf entertainment experience for families and enthusiasts of all levels. In total, Saint John’s Resort covers 200 acres.

Situated alongside the golf course, Doyles will offer a contemporary pub feel with dark wood furniture, green accents, leather seating, wood-paneled walls and tartan wall coverings.

Other accents include black and white penny tile patterns, a “moody black ceiling” in the bar, family crests, vintage artwork and street photography by Irish photographers. An outdoor patio, which overlooks the golf course, offers outdoor dining for individuals and meetings.

“Our goal was to create a welcoming space that combines warm hospitality with a dynamic dining experience,” says Eric Djordjevic, general manager of Saint John’s Resort. “Doyles sets itself apart from our other restaurants by offering a relaxed atmosphere where guests can enjoy a range of modern tavern fare as well as lighter, fresher fare, all in the friendly atmosphere of a traditional Irish pub. “

The menu ranges from “creative, upscale classics to established classics.” It offers grab-and-go breakfasts for golfers, a brunch menu including Celtic Pancakes Benedict, Shrimp and Grits, and Lemon, Blueberry and Goat Cheese Pancakes.

Pub favorites like Fish and Chips, a daily pot pie, cheese curds, wings, nachos and customizable brisket burgers are complemented by Irish staples – Bangers and Mash, Shepherd’s Pie and Irish Stew .

Lighter options range from salads and bowls – Revitalize and Southwest Bowls, Waldorf Chicken Salad Wrap, Lake Superior White Fish and locally sourced Roasted Brick Chicken – complemented by a daily vegetarian dish.

The sandwich range includes the Cluck of the Irish, Doyles Paddy Melt and Cliffs of Moher Reuben, and at the bar, creative cocktails, green beer and a signature Irish Stout.

“Doyles Backyard,” a 3,750-square-foot lawn west of Doyles (facing Five Mile Rd.), will host a variety of outdoor activities. Summer events include cornhole tournaments, horseshoes, whiskey barrel ring toss, and Irish bowling with Guinness bottles as pins. Winter brings live entertainment, beer pairings, pub takeovers, beer dinners, quiz nights and euchre tournaments.

Saint John’s Resort, including all F&B outlets, is part of the Pulte Family Charitable Foundation’s ‘Humanitarian Hotels’ strategy, which aims to ensure that every visit contributes to meaningful initiatives both locally and globally.

With 100% of its net profits dedicated to educational and humanitarian projects, the hotel says “guests can take pride in knowing that their patronage supports good causes.”

In addition to Doyles, St. John’s Resort offers FIVE Steakhouse and The Wine Grotto.

Saint John’s Resort also offers 118 upscale hotel rooms, 56,000 square feet of meeting space and The Garden Pavilion (event space). Additionally, a 50,000 square foot expansion of meeting space is expected to open in 2025.
