Daniel Cormier says Michael Chandler should ‘drop’ Conor McGregor fight after latest cancellation

Daniel Cormier thinks it’s time for Michael Chandler to move on.

Following the latest cancellation of his highly anticipated fight with Conor McGregor, Cormer has offered advice on Chandler’s next move.

The UFC Hall of Famer thinks McGregor might be done fighting and thinks Chandler needs to return to the cage.

“Michael Chandler still has to fight,” Cormier said. “Michael Chandler, it seems like he needs Conor McGregor, but I don’t know if that’s the case. When you talk to Mike, his goals haven’t changed. He still wants to be world champion. I don’t know if even if he wins, this fight will bring him closer to the world champion title.

“He has some things to weigh for the future because I don’t know if he should wait any longer. I think it’s time to let that go, and I think the prevailing feeling is that (McGregor) is done. I thought Conor McGregor was going to come back because for me, Conor McGregor is a fighter. I know skill for skill, the Conor McGregor of 2015 is not the same guy. But I thought the star was still the same. I just don’t know if he wants to fight. Especially right now.

Some believe McGregor’s injury could be minor and that he will be ready to return to action by August or September.

However, at 38 years old, Chandler’s time is running out to reach the top of the division.

The pay-per-view fight was scheduled to be McGregor’s first octagonal appearance since July 10, 2021. The fight ended with McGregor suffering a gruesome broken leg after a kick from Dustin Poirier.

Chandler, meanwhile, hasn’t fought since November 2022, when he suffered a submission loss to Poirier.
