Tucker Young gets offer from Hogs

FAYETTEVILLE – Hot Springs Lakeside Class of 2026 offensive lineman Tucker Young attended lineman camp in Arkansas on Wednesday, then received an offer from the Razorbacks on Thursday.

Young, 6-5, 300, also received an offer from Memphis this week. Young talked about what Arkansas’ offer meant to him.

“It meant everything to me,” Young said. “It showed me that all the hard work has paid off and that everything I do is right.”

Young talked about what he did so well in camp that impressed Eric Mateos and Sam Pittman to pull the trigger on an offer.

“I felt every drill I did at full speed,” Young said. “At the end I was exhausted because I had done everything 100%. I also did well in the individual exercises. I worked a lot on it.

Young also talked about what he feels he does well on the field from his position on the offensive line and also where he needs to show improvement.

“I definitely think my run blocking is good, very good,” Young said. “Once I get through to someone, it’s hard for them to get through.

“I think my pass blocking is pretty good, but I can still improve it, for sure.”

Mateos is Arkansas’ new offensive line coach and has made a big impression on the recruits.

“Oh, he’s a great coach,” Young said. “Great personality. He is a great person and motivator. »

The fact that Pittman is now the head coach and is also a former offensive line coach is something Young has taken note of.

“When coach offered me, I knew they liked what they saw,” Young said. “I think since he was an offensive line coach, he may have some additional knowledge about offensive line recruiting and all that.”

Young explained in detail what he looks for in a college when it comes time to make a decision.

“I’m just looking for a good overall team and good coaches,” Young said. “Coaches willing to work with me.”
