Who is KG Abraham?  Managing Director of the NBTC group which owned a building where 45 Indians died

On June 12, a massive fire broke out in Kuwait in a multi-story building housing foreign workers, mostly Indians. The fire killed 49 people, including 42 Indians.

Kuwait-based NBTC Group, whose workers died in a fire at one of its premises, has announced Rs 8 lakh as immediate relief to each of the families of the deceased.

In a statement, the company said it would continue to keep the families of the deceased as “part of the NBTC family.”

NBTC said it was deeply “shocked and saddened by the tragic incident” that occurred at one of its residences in Mangaf, Kuwait.

Who is KG Abraham: Managing Director of NBTC

KG Abraham, a prominent businessman from Kerala, is a partner and managing director of NBTC Group.

NBTC is the largest construction group in Kuwait, according to the Central Travancore Chamber of Commerce and Industry website.

The website said: “NBTC Group, which is the largest construction group in Kuwait and has earned a reputation for quality, reliability and success, is also expanding to neighboring countries in the Middle East.”

Established in 1977, NBTC operates in engineering and construction, manufacturing and machining, technical services, heavy equipment rental, logistics, hospitality and retail.

Abraham is also the chairman of the Kochi-based five-star Crowne Plaza Hotel and founder and chairman of the KGA Group, which owns the prominent Kochi five-star property, among other establishments.

Goat’s Life (Adujeevitham)

KG Abraham, apart from being a businessman, is also interested in film production. Abraham co-produced a Malayalam survival drama ‘Adujeevitham’ (Goat Life), which ironically chronicles the life of an Indian migrant worker in a Gulf country.

The film revolves around the character of Najeeb Muhammed and Hakim, immigrants forced into slavery in Saudi Arabia. in the film, the two in search of a better life, travel to another country.

The NBTC group announced Rs eight lakh as immediate relief to each of the families of the deceased. The central government also announced financial assistance of Rs two lakh to the families of the deceased. Leading companies have also announced financial assistance for families.
