Conor McGregor breaks silence after being kicked out of UFC 303

Conor McGregor has finally broken his silence.

After being ruled out of his scheduled UFC 303 fight against Michael Chandler on June 29 in Las Vegas due to injury, McGregor addressed his fans in a heartfelt message.

“Very difficult to be excluded from my planned return fight,” McGregor wrote in an Instagram post. “I suffered an injury before the press conference that required more time to heal than I had.

“The decision to postpone the fight was not made lightly, but in consultation with my doctors, the UFC and my team.”

McGregor, 35, has not fought in the UFC since his July 10, 2021 loss to Dustin Poirier, and he has not won a fight with the promotion since a Jan. 18, 2020 victory over Donald Cerrone.

His loss to Poirier was his second in a row against him, and McGregor has lost three of his last four fights.

But his planned return sparked plenty of intrigue, and when an introductory press conference at UFC 303 was canceled without explanation, panic set in.

Alex Pereira and Jiri Prochazka’s light heavyweight title fight will now become the main event of the card.

“My fans and my opponent deserve me to do my best in this fight and we will get there!” McGregor wrote. “Thank you for the messages of support, I am in a good mood and confident to come back! »
