Cops on alert: Prisoners caught escaping from cell in St Mary

An attempted escape of prisoners at the Oracabessa police station was blocked by the rapid action of police personnel.

According to reports, around 7:30 p.m. on Friday, June 14, police officers on duty were alerted to noises coming from one of the cells.

Upon investigation, they discovered that the prisoners were trying to escape through an air vent at the back of the cell.

Help was requested from the Echo Command Center, where they met resistance from the prisoners.

Swift actions and tactics were used to help maintain order. No injuries were reported and six of the nine prisoners were transferred to cells at Annotto Bay and Islington.

The investigation continues.
