Steelers legend considering leaving team

For over a decade, Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Cameron Heyward has been one of the leaders and stars on the defensive side of the ball, becoming a legitimate legend for the team with three All-Pro nods on the first team and a recent Walter Peyton Man. Award of the Year. But he now openly discusses the possibility of playing elsewhere.

Cameron Heyward is seeking a new deal with the Steelers that would keep him on the team next season, but it appears he is at least open to the idea that he could play elsewhere next season.

“I talked to my wife, and we know the reality, and we had these discussions, and she said it might be fun to play somewhere else,” Heyward said this week according to Mark Kaboly of The Athletic. “If that’s what needs to be done, so be it.”

As for where he might consider signing instead, Heyward brought up a possible division rival: the Cleveland Browns.

“I still have family in Cleveland. . . my wife is from Cleveland. We will see. I’m not trying to think about any of that right now,” Heyward said.

We’ll have to see what happens, but it’s certainly interesting to hear the legendary Steelers player openly discuss the possibility of playing elsewhere.
