Alvaro Morata: “I will be ready” for the next match, despite the blow

Spain captain Alvaro Morata, speaking to Spanish television channel La 1 after the match, insisted the blow he received was not serious.

He said: “It was nothing, just a loud bang, I knew it was ‘charging’ the rest of the leg. So it was better to go out, for another teammate to come in, who was better than me. I will be ready (for the next match).

“I felt good, the team was good, really motivated, we pressed a very good team very well. We have to go into games from the start, like we did today, and now think about the next game.

Discussing how his first shot was saved but his second found the net, he added: “With the first shot I wanted to surprise the goalkeeper because the pitch was a bit dry.

“For the second chance, I knew the wingers would stay wide and open up the middle of the field. Fabian has seen the space and it is so good. Then he scored a superb goal himself.
