Sibal questions PM Modi’s ‘silence’ on NEET exam issue

Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal on Saturday hit out at the Center over the NEET exam issue and questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “silence” on the issue.

The exam was held on May 5 at 4,750 centers and around 24 lakh candidates appeared for it. The results were due to be announced on June 14, but they were announced on June 4, apparently because the evaluation of the answer sheets was completed earlier.

There have been allegations of question paper leaks in states like Bihar and other irregularities in the prestigious exam.

In an article on X, Sibal said, “NEET exam. The Gujarat Postman. The Center and the National Testing Agency on Thursday told the Supreme Court that they have canceled pardons granted to 1,563 candidates who took the entrance exam for MBBS and other such courses.

They will have the possibility either to retake an exam or to waive the compensatory marks which were granted to them for wasting time, the Center indicated.

Opposition MPs attacked the government over the issue and demanded justice for the students.

Stepping up its attack on the government over the issue of NEET-UG exams, the Congress on Friday questioned Modi’s “silence” on the issue and asserted that only a forensic probe supervised by the Supreme Court can ensure the future of thousands of young students.
