Conor McGregor has vowed he will be back after pulling out of his rematch fight against Michael Chandler at UFC 303.

McGregor hasn’t fought since July 2021, when he broke his leg during a fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. The Irishman was expected to return to the octagon to fight Chandler later this month- here, but he was injured shortly before a press conference. to promote the event.

The press conference was due to take place in Dublin, but was abruptly canceled just hours before it was due to start. No reason was given for the cancellation at the time, but UFC president Dana White announced 10 days later that the fight was being halted due to McGregor’s injury.

And the Notorious has now broken his silence on the fight, insisting he is “confident I will return”. In a post on social media, McGregor wrote: “Very difficult to be excluded from my planned return fight.

“I picked up an injury prior to the press conference that required more time to heal than I had available. The decision to postpone the fight was not taken lightly, but was made in consultation with my doctors, the UFC and my team.

“My fans and my opponent deserve that I give my best for this fight and we will get there! Thank you for the messages of support, I am in a good mood and confident to come back!”

The new UFC 303 main event will see Alex Pereira defend the light heavyweight championship against former champion Jiri Prochazka and White insisted he was “very happy” with the fight card, despite the loss of its biggest star.

“I’m very happy (with the quality of the replacement fights),” White told Sports Business Journal. “It’s business, man. That’s how it happens. And from now on, I’m not going to talk about it again until he’s healed and proven right. Then we Let’s look at the landscape and see what we can figure out.
