Robber is jailed after hammer attack at Oakthorpe store

Police said Mold was on bail at the time for a previous robbery at a garage in Nottingham Road, Ashby, on November 1, 2023.

It involved an employee who was working the night shift when she saw a man – later identified as Mold – behind the cash register taking cigarettes from the cupboard.

Police said she confronted him and reported that he threatened that he had a gun and ordered her to open the register.

The victim was unable to open the cash register and Mold left without any injuries.

He was arrested at a business when police were called to a report of a burglar alarm going off in Lower Church Street, Ashby.

PC Amy Aplin said after he was sentenced on October 31: “Mould had no respect for his victims as he committed these crimes purely for his own gain.

“Thanks to the support and cooperation of the victims, together with the focused investigation conducted by response officers and the investigation team, Mold had no choice but to admit to his crimes that led to this sentence.”
