Gordon Ramsay has admitted he is “lucky to be here” after suffering horrific injuries in a cycling accident.

The famous chef posted a video on his social media on Saturday June 15 after being shaken by an accident in Connecticut.

In the clip, Ramsay’s hands were clearly shaking as he explained the terrifying ordeal.

“Hey guys, it’s Gordon. I’d like to share a very important message with you all,” he began.

“You know how much I love cycling, triathlons, Ironman (races) etc. and this week unfortunately I had a very bad accident and it really shook me up and honestly I lucky to be here.

“These incredible trauma surgeons, doctors and nurses in the hospitals have been taking care of me this week. They have been great but honestly, you have to wear helmets.”

Ramsay added: “I don’t care how short the trip is. I don’t care…these helmets cost money, but they are crucial, even with a child’s short trip, they have to wear a helmet now.

“I’m lucky to be here. I am suffering. It’s been a brutal week. And I’m kind of getting through it.

At one point in the video, Ramsay lifts his shirt to reveal to viewers a huge dark purple bruise on his torso.

And while it looks very painful, the 57-year-old confirmed in a caption to the video that he didn’t break any bones.

He also credited the helmet with “saving” his life.
