The headline on Goldschmidt’s story was unfair

Neil Goldschmidt’s story was a good, inclusive article (“Neil Goldschmidt, Former Oregon Governor Who Sexually Abused Young Girl, Dies at 83”, June 12), but the title was hostile and unfair. Goldschmidt was a very competent, successful and far-sighted mayor, and the newspaper could have taken the lead with that.

Should we be defined by the worst thing we’ve done, let alone amplifying it?

I am sometimes very disappointed by the tabloid tendencies of The Oregonian/OregonLive.
