Woman shares tips for ‘staying safe’ in a hotel room – but not everyone is convinced

Many people are concerned about the safety of themselves and their belongings when staying in a hotel, whether in the UK or abroad.

To address these concerns, one woman shared her unique hotel security tips in a video, although not everyone agrees with her methods.

The video, shared by @gunsnrosesgirl3 on X (formerly Twitter), went viral and has been viewed more than 54 million times. In the clip, the woman begins by removing the toilet paper from its holder, captioning the video: “What I do in a hotel to stay safe.”

She then turns on a faucet and seals the toilet paper without explaining why, probably to detect if anyone else has used the toilet. She also hangs the “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door and locks it for security, even placing a beer bottle cap on the handle as an alarm system.

Finally, she rolls up a towel and places it at the bottom of the door to muffle conversations and deter potential intruders.

The hotel guest then recommends lifting the corners of the sheet and checking underneath to make sure there is nothing there.

Finally, she places her valuables, like her keys, wallet and jewelry, in a new diaper before rolling it up and placing it on a shelf in the room.
