BILLY Porter was caught sniffing his armpits in the audience at the Tony Awards, in a moment fans branded “embarrassing”.

The award-winning star appeared to be having a rough night, getting arrested in the awkward gaffe after being forced to go on stage to accept an award without his speech.

During the show, cameras panned to Billy, 54, as he stood among the audience enjoying one of the many performances at the Tonys.

The Pose star attempted to sniff her armpits, subtly checking for the scent, but was caught.

The moment was not only broadcast live, but also made the rounds on social media.

“I know I didn’t just see Billy Porter sniffing his armpit on live TV,” one fan joked.

BILLY’S MISTAKES

Elsewhere in the awards ceremony, Billy was called on stage to accept an award.

He won the Isabelle Stevenson Award, a philanthropic award given to an individual who has made significant contributions on stage and in charity.

When the star arrived at the podium to speak, she realized she couldn’t find her phone and therefore didn’t have the speech she had prepared.

He laughed at the moment, killing time until someone could get him his phone.

“I need my phone. Where’s my speech, baby? Someone’s got the phone, someone’s got the speech. Let’s get together,” he said playfully.

“Someone has my phone over there,” he shouted.

Suddenly, a man in a suit appeared on stage with the phone in his hand.

On X, formerly Twitter, fans laughed at the moment while some praised Billy’s composure.
