Two people arrested on warrants during traffic stop

On Wednesday, around 11:10 p.m., Turlock Police Officer Marquez conducted a traffic stop at Lander Avenue and Fourth Street.

Marquez made contact and identified the three occupants of the vehicle, including passengers John Cervantes, 49, of Turlock, and Celia Vigil, 38, of Turlock.

When Marquez asked his dispatcher to execute the three, he discovered that Cervantes had a $5,000 local misdemeanor warrant for violating a domestic violence order and was on probation for assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm. Vigil also had three warrants for his arrest, $3,000 local first offense for trespassing and theft, $4,500 second offense in Stanislaus County for theft, and $411 third offense in Stanislaus County for violation of the education code.

With Cervantes on probation, a probation search around the portion of the vehicle he was seated in was conducted, during which no contraband was found.

Cervantes and Vigil were arrested based on their warrants. Cervantes was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center, while Vigil was released on citation.
