ASUS’ New PRIME GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs Are SFF Ready for Compact Builds

ASUS’ New PRIME GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs Are SFF Ready for Compact Builds

Compact constructions are becoming more and more popular every year. Small form factor (SFF) enclosures can lead to a smaller desktop footprint or a platform that can fit comfortably under a TV. The big concern, at least when trying to put together an SFF build powerful enough to play the latest PC games, is whether or not the hardware will be suitable.

Noticing this trend, NVIDIA announced, as part of its Computex 2024 announcements, a new “SFF Ready” label that indicates which GeForce RTX 4070 to GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER GPUs can fit into smaller SFF cases. It all comes down to GPUs and SFF cases meeting specific sizing criteria (NVIDIA told us that almost all GeForce RTX 4060s are SFF Ready), and you can see all GeForce RTX cards (and compatible cases) here.

With this, ASUS introduces a new line of budget-friendly, SFF Ready GeForce RTX GPUs called ASUS Prime. So far, the company has announced three models: the Prime GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER, the Prime GeForce RTX 4070, and the Prime GeForce RTX 4060 Ti.

One thing to note is that the Prime GPUs sport a triple-fan cooling system in a slim profile. ASUS notes that every millimeter of the physical design ensures that it lives up to the thermal performance (and expectations) we’ve come to expect from ASUS’ GeForce RTX lineup. It’s an interesting choice, especially considering the company’s Dual-series dual-fan GPUs (which we love) are already SFF Ready. In fact, the minimal look of the new Prime series reminds us more of ProArt GPUs than anything gaming related.

ASUS is launching a line of Prime equipment, including an ASUS Prime motherboard (Prime X670E-Pro Wi-Fi), ASUS Prime AP201 chassis, and Prime AIO liquid CPU cooler. The image above shows all of ASUS’ Prime gear in a full version, so it will be interesting to see how ASUS’ budget and mainstream Prime gear compares to the competition.
