We met Twitch star and innovative cosplayer, Rolyat

Meet Rolyat, an innovative costume designer, model and Twitch streamer! Rolyat excels where self-expression meets craftsmanship, fueling his passion for designing cosplay creations. After sharing her journey online, Rolyat went viral and now has 136,000 fans on TikTok and 45,000 subscribers on Twitch!

We caught up with Rolyat to learn more about her inspiration and advice for becoming an innovative Cosplayer.

Tell us what you like about Twitch?

I love the feeling of community! I love how Twitch brings people with similar interests together, whether it’s gaming or just hanging out. It’s like being part of this big supportive family where everyone supports you. And the best? The live interaction during broadcasts is so much fun! I love being able to play video games with my friends and chat with my fans in real time. Twitch is such a cool place to connect and be yourself!

What is the inspiration that guides you?

My inspiration comes from many sources beyond the cosplay community. I would say my biggest inspiration is my mother. Growing up, she was so hardworking, loving and kind. She taught me everything I know about sewing and I am very grateful for that.

When it comes to cosplay, I look for new inspiration in games I play, movies and TV shows I like, or characters I can relate to. Sometimes I even see characters or franchises that are being talked about in the media, and I see something that I think I can create, and I go from there!

Why is being a cosplayer so fun?

Being a cosplayer is so much fun because there are no limits to what you can do, be, or create. I always find it very inspiring to see others add their own personal touch to their cosplays. I think it’s also pretty cool to recreate a character that has a personal connection to you and live through them for the day.

Another factor I like is the stimulating side of things. I usually make all of my cosplays myself, so challenging myself to learn a new sewing technique or figure out how I’m going to make something is always fun.

What are your tips for becoming an innovative Cosplayer?

To become an innovative cosplayer, here are some of my tips:

• Experimenting with different materials and techniques when creating costumes is so much fun. Never be afraid to try something new!
• Collaborate with other cosplayers and friends to exchange ideas and learn from each other’s experiences.
• Don’t be afraid to put your unique spin on costumes and characters.
• Accept failure as part of the learning process and use it as an opportunity to grow and improve.

Future plans – what’s next?

I have so much coming soon! I’m excited to continue growing my brand and trying new things. In the coming months you can expect the release of an exciting new project that I’m working on! Some new cosplays of characters I’ve never cosplayed before! I’m also looking forward to getting back into streaming more frequently!
