OPP seize 55 grams of cocaine and 17 grams of fentanyl in area burglary

A police patrol in the city arrested the 38-year-old on November 5 at 9pm

A man arrested on Collingwood Street last night is now facing 10 criminal charges relating to the use of credit cards, stealing property and possessing cocaine and fentanyl for the purpose of human trafficking.

Collingwood OPP officers were patrolling the city on Spruce Street at around 9pm yesterday (5 November) when they arrested a man of no fixed address.

“It was at this time that officers observed a man who had reasonable grounds for his arrest for an incident that occurred on November 1, 2024,” according to a news release from Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP. “The man was arrested and subsequently searched, during which officers located and seized 55.1 grams of cocaine and 17.2 grams of fentanyl.”

Brian Zevenbergen, 38, has been charged with:

  • Use of credit card (four counts)
  • Property obtained by crime under $5,000 (four counts)
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking in human beings (cocaine)
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking in human beings (fentanyl)

The suspect was transported to the Collingwood Detachment to be held for a virtual bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice.

None of the allegations have been tested in court.
