PCSD announces changes to school schedules to combat the heat

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – The Pittsford Central School District is conducting early dismissals at the elementary level Thursday and Friday in anticipation of high temperatures throughout the week.

All outdoor, after-school and evening activities are canceled or have been moved indoors. The SHS Sports Excellence Banquet and Awards Ceremony will be moved to the SHS Commons Auditorium.

Exam schedules will resume on Thursday. NYS Regents guidelines allow students to bring bottles of clear water into testing areas and store them on their office floor.

PCSD also noted that planned end-of-year events, such as field trips, ceremonies, celebrations and field days, may be modified to ensure the safety of students and staff.

All elementary schools will benefit from a half day and middle schools will close at 10:00 a.m.
