Prosecutors review charges in Collinsville shooting

COLLINSVILLE, Ill. – One person is in custody following a shooting Monday morning in Collinsville.

According to Lt. Mark Kuechle, a spokesman for the Collinsville Police Department, the shooting happened just before 8:30 a.m. at a home in the 500 block of Western Avenue.

Officers arrived and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. They took a suspect into custody. Police have not released the ages or identities of the two people.

Collinsville EMS firefighters transported the victim to the hospital. Their injuries were not life-threatening.

Meanwhile, the suspected shooter remains in custody while the St. Clair County Prosecutor’s Office reviews the charges.

Investigators believe the shooting was domestic in nature.
